FAQ's
I offer a free 30-minute discovery call so you can get a sense of how I work and whether my approach feels right for you. This is a chance to ask questions, share what you're looking for, and explore how counselling might support your goals — with no pressure to commit.
Counselling sessions are available online, offering you the flexibility and comfort of attending from your own space—no matter where you're located. In-person sessions are available at Wellness Out West (49 Main Road, Kumeū) for those who prefer face-to-face support in a calm, welcoming environment. Your comfort and convenience are always prioritised.
Each counselling session lasts about 50 minutes. This time is dedicated to focusing on your needs and goals in a supportive and uninterrupted environment.
Private counselling sessions are $95, including GST. You don’t need to pay upfront; you’ll be sent an invoice via email after each session, which can be paid via bank transfer.
I am committed to making support accessible and am a registered provider for several funded pathways. This means your sessions may be fully or partially covered if you are eligible for:
• Gumboot Friday: Free counselling for young people aged 25 and under.
• Victim Support: Funded sessions for those affected by crime or trauma.
• WINZ (Work and Income): I can help you navigate the process for a Disability Allowance to help cover the cost of your sessions.
Absolutely. Navigating funding can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re already dealing with a lot. I’m happy to help you with the necessary paperwork for WINZ or guide you through the Gumboot Friday portal. We can kōrero about these options during our first session to see which pathway best supports your journey.
Yes. I provide specialised support for those navigating the ACC Sensitive Claims Service (for survivors of sexual trauma). These sessions are provided through my partnership with Mind Garage and are fully funded by ACC.
If you are just starting this process, I can help you with the initial steps, or you can request that your ACC Case Manager contact Mind Garage directly.
The number of sessions you'll need depends on your goals, circumstances, and what feels right for you. We'll discuss this in our initial sessions and adjust as needed. Some clients come for a single session to gain clarity or support with a specific issue, while others find that around 5 to 10 sessions work well for short-term goals, personal growth, or navigating transitions. If you're engaging in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), we may work together over a series of sessions focused on specific outcomes. I tailor the process to your pace and preferences, whether that means a few sessions or ongoing support. You're welcome to book sessions as needed, and we'll find a rhythm that supports your journey together.
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session.
• Late cancellations (less than 24 hours’ notice) will incur a 50% charge of the session fee.
• No-shows will incur a 100% charge of the full session fee.
I understand that life happens. If you're facing an emergency or unexpected situation, please reach out — I'm committed to working with you in a way that supports your current circumstances.
Absolutely. Your privacy is paramount in our counselling relationship. Everything you share is held in strict confidence, following ethical guidelines and legal requirements. If there are any exceptions due to serious risk or legal obligations, I will discuss these with you openly and clearly. Your trust and safety are my top priorities.
